Toothless Grin
Frances lost her first tooth yesterday. She had been dreading the day, explaining how she didn't want any of her teeth to fall out. We had to soften her up with gentle rumor of a tooth fairy. Finally she came around and decided that it might be a good idea to part with the old, baby tooth in exchange for any riches that the tooth fairy might leave behind. What do you know; before we even had the chance to tie it up to a doorknob, out it came. Kernel-like in size, it is hard to imagine that it could have played any significant role in chewing anything.
She said that she wanted to get fifteen dollars from the tooth fairy, just like her friend in school. I told her that her friend's tooth fairy probably had a better job than our tooth fairy. Our tooth fairy, quite generously I thought, left her two dollars. Frances was thrilled to find tenderable currency under her pillow at 6AM. Will she actively hope for more dental casualties in exchange for more riches? The answer to that, my dear reader, will have to wait until next time.
